What is Dial-A-Ride?

Dial-A-Ride is a door to door transport service using an adapted vehicle which provides easy access for passengers including wheelchair users.

All our vehicles are fitted with safety belts which must be worn at all times, unless there are medical reasons, for which we will require written proof. Tyres on wheelchairs must be fully inflated.

Who can use it?

Anyone registered member living in the Bexhill area, regardless of age, with any type of disability that makes it difficult or impossible to use public transport.

It can be used for shopping, visiting friends, appointments at Bexhill Hospital, hairdressers, theatre matinees etc within the local area.

What if I need help?

If you require a helper, this person will travel free of charge provided that they are collected from the same address as the member.

How much does it cost?

The current suggested donation will be advised at the time of booking.

How do I register?

You will need to complete a registration form.

How do I book?

Once you have registered you should call 01424 224278 at least 1 week before you require the service. Bookings are taken between 9:30am and 12 noon on Monday to Friday. Outside office hours an answerphone is in operation.

Dial-A-Ride will operate on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

Please remember that Dial-A-Ride may have to pick up or drop off passengers on the way to your destination, so allow plenty of time for your journey. To be fair to all passengers users of the service can only have two trips booked at any time.

Remember to book your return journey at the same time.

What happens if I need to cancel a booking?

The office should be informed as soon as possible, and at least 12 hours before the booked journey, by telephoning 01424 224278.

If you do not cancel a booking that you no longer require, it may result in a charge being made.
